Neuseway Nature Center and Planetarium – All-inclusive spots you need to visit on Kinston, North Carolina

A science center in Kinston, North Carolina, the Neuseway Nature Center and Planetarium features a wide variety of exhibitions. Among the amenities included in the facility are a 52-seat planetarium, a public health exhibit provided by Lenoir Memorial Hospital, and a space exhibition donated by a former NASA engineer. During the North Carolina Science Festival, a star party is held at the Planetarium each year. At the nature center, visitors can see exhibits of reptiles, fish, and small mammals that are native to the area.

Astronomical exhibits and educational programs are featured at the Planetarium, Health & Science Museum, which has a 24-foot ceiling and hands-on exhibits. You can touch a variety of coastal creatures in the salt-water touch tank at the Exchange Nature Center. 

Visit an array of exhibits featuring plants and animals native to the area, including native snakes, flying squirrels, talking birds, and bears. In Kinston-Lenoir County, the Tourism Development Authority manages the Kinston-Lenoir County TDA campground, which has 23 sites with full hookups for RVs; additional sites with 30-amp hookups; and tent campsites without hookups. All sites are subject to a fee. There is a 30-day maximum stay. Camping is permitted. 

The campground of Neuseway Nature Center

Camping, fishing, hiking and canoeing are available at this beautiful 55-acre campground along the Neuse River. At the full hookup campground, you can spend the night under the stars. For primitive camping Neuseway offer tent sites without hook-ups ($10/night), and 32 full hook-up sites with 50-, 30-, and 20-amp service ($20/night). A dump station, hot showers, fire rings, picnic tables, and river access are all included at the campground.

Ellis Planetarium, Health & Science Museum

Hands-on health and science exhibits and programs are available at the 5000-square-foot Health & Science Museum. Among the exhibits you will find a giant Operation game, a mini UNC Lenoir Hospital that children can play in, an underground blood vessel tunnel that represents the blood supply of the body, and a model of the stomach, intestines, and mouth. Visit the farm to table room where kids can find healthy food and learn about the local agriculture industry. The exhibits change periodically.
